Aching To Pupate

It’s the 25th of December

and somewhere, a hypothetical pupa is aching for something.

Which is understandable,

for it’s been trying to pupate since last July.

Nothing.

It’s come to realize that nothing is harder or more painful than becoming butterfly.

 

When the unwritten pieces of you die as part of the process

and you feel nothing but nothingness,

Start again. Crawl. Try. Rearange.

Don’t run away from yourself as you urge to transform,

for there’s nothing more necessary and more beautiful than change.

Inside,

unspoken words are already being misunderstood.

Somehow, your deepest thoughts on different matters collide.

Restlessly.

There is a war underneath.

You’re both humbleness and pride,

also the hypothetical adult and the child.

It’s the 25th of December

and so much you still need to decide.

 

It’s the 25th of December and almost the end of something worth aching for,

like innocence or youth.

There will be no Christmas this year,

as part of the process of bearing the truth.

There won’t be any familiar smells around you,

no snow and definitely no jingle bells.

And what happened to that almost forgotten last year’s misletoe romance?

Where are your dearest true friends?

You’d better get used to the unwell

and, in the meantime,

pupate to the core.

Metamorphosize and be aware of everything you’re going through.

Be fearless and selfish but selfless and wild,

always become something more.

 

It’s the 25th of December, end and beginning.

And, of course, how much more complicated can this story get?

Pupating is necessarily strange,

but come either end or begininning,
